  • Field Of Honor Flag Event

    This weeklong event is open to the public 24/7. Feel free to walk through the sea of flags or bring a chair and sit and reflect. There will be over 400 flags flying this year .

    Veterans Week Events

    Veterans Week is full of activities this year!

    Opening Ceremony, with music to follow, officially kicks off the event on Saturday, 11/4. at 2pm. Bring a chair and join us.

    Taps is played nightly, live, at 5 pm.

    Educational instruction to 8th grade classes . All SMS Students visit the field during week.

    Flag Retirement - Legion Post 115 will perform a flag retirement/burning ceremony on 11/9 at 4pm. This meaningful ceremony will be a great experience.

    Veterans Day - 11/11 Ceremony at Town Hall (inside. ) 10:30am

    William F Buckley monument ceremony - 11/11 Located in the Square in front of Butcher shop. 10 minutes 11:30am

    Veterans 5K/Walk will start at 11:30 am after the Veterans Day 11/11 ceremony. Come cheer on the runners !

    The Stoneham Historical Society & Museum is having a special opening Nov. 11 from 11:30 am to 2 pm of its exhibit “Vietnam: From Hometown to Hanoi”. Free admission:-donations welcomed. 36 William St, Stoneham.

    Closing ceremony - 11/12 at noon. List of sponsored flags will be read, as we close out the event.

    Flag pickup- For those who wish to take their flag home rather than having it stored, can pick up flags at Stoneham Town Hall (35 Central St, SToneham) on Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 4-7 pm. There will be NO pickup at the Field this year.

    Food Collection for Veterans - containers will be at the Field All week. Distribution will be the following week. List of Item included.

    Worn Flag Collection - drop off your worn flags for retirement. Box will be at the field all week.

  • Veterans Day Ceremony

    Veterans Day - 11/11 Ceremony at Town Hall (inside. ) Special Forces Chapter 54 veteran of the William F Buckley chapter will be our guest speaker. Thank you pins and cards will be given out to Veteran in attendance from the Town of Stoneham. Pizza and drinks will be served to Veterans following the ceremony.

    William F Buckley monument ceremony - to take place directly after the Town Hall ceremony 11/11 completes. 10 minutes in duration. Located in the Square in front of Butcher shop.

    Veterans Day Run

    The Veterans Day 5K Race starts directly after the Veterans Day Ceremony at 11:30am in front of Town Hall Central Street. Come and cheer on the participants! TO REGISTER or for more information, see the race website.

  • Veterans Photo Project

    The Memorial Day Parade Committee has an ongoing project to add as many photos of local veterans to our slide show , that we show on Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Send your photos to stonehamveterans@gmail.com

  • Taps Played Nightly at 5pm

    We have been fortunate to have musical volunteers from high school students, teachers, and adults from the community to have live taps played at the field of honor rain or shine. Visit the field at 5pm for a special moment.
